Biography

Cristina Tsuha is a Full Professor at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of São Paulo in Brazil. She graduated from the Institute Mauá of Technology (São Paulo, Brazil) in 1994. She worked as civil engineer in engineering companies during several years (1995 – 2001). She has been involved in different projects related to geotechnical site investigations, foundations, and earth structures. She has got her MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (2003 and 2007). In 2009 she did a Post-Doctoral Research at Technical University of Grenoble (INPG). Her research focuses on geotechnical structures, with emphasis on pile foundations, helical piles, ground improvement, foundations in unsaturated soils, energy geostructures, and foundations under cyclic loading. Since 2010 she has been responsible for the Experimental Foundation Site of the University of São Paulo at São Carlos (Brazil), where several field experiments and monitoring of full-scale geotechnical structures are being conducted.
