the inaugural webinar will take place on 28th of February, 2024 at 17:00 CET
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am happy to let you know that we are initiating a new TC104 Interactive Webinar Series (IWS). The Webinar aims to combine the knowledge of experienced researchers, with the passion and drive of early stage researchers, and the extremely important contribution of technicians. A key goal is to share our experiences, and learn from the challenges that we are facing when performing physical modelling experiments. The Webinars will be interactive, promoting active involvement of the online participants. Recognizing that we can learn more from failures, the speakers are asked to share the problems they faced and how they solved them, instead of going directly to the success story that we are all looking for. The webinars will be fully open to attend online, and will also be recorded and posted on our TC104 website.
The inaugural Webinar entitled “Centrifuge modelling techniques for investigating river embankments behaviour under steady-state and transient seepage conditions” will be given by a research group from the University of Cambridge (Prof. Sam. Stanier, Mr. Kristian Pether) and the University of Bologna (Dr. Elena Dodaro, Mr. Mario Marcolongo). The research project RES FLUCTIS that will be presented is part of a collaboration in the context of the Horizon 2020 project GEOLAB. Please find attached a detailed description of the topic, along with the bios of the speakers. The live broadcasting will take place on February 28, 2024, starting at 17:00 CET. Please attend online using the following zoom link:https://ethz.zoom.us/j/65234181604
Believe that this is a good step forward, and I hope that you will enjoy our new TC104 Interactive Webinar Series. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to come up with proposals for the next webinars. Please write to me directly, proposing the topic and the composition of the speakers. Recognizing that it is practically impossible to find a convenient time for all of our members around the world, the timing of the webinars will be selected according to the location of the speakers.
I would also like to take the opportunity to let you know that we have a new TC104 LinkedIn page, where this and future announcements will also be posted. Please follow and share with your connections in order to stay up to date and to maximize the impact of our TC104 activities.
Looking forward to your active participation!
